Hey! It’s Friday in America, and somehow this is the first delayed Five Jokes of the year! I try and send these out by 11AM ET each day — but somehow, life finds a way. That’s good though. Life is a good thing… right? Right.

• Best Buy is shutting down its Samsung repair program. Officially launching the Geek Squad’s elite, underground group of Samsung repairers.

  

• Job seekers are meeting with characters powered by generative AI who are capable of meeting with infinite candidates to judge their skills. Wow. Back in my day, “corporate drones” were actual people.

• Google and Microsoft’s AI chatbots refuse to say who won the 2020 U.S. election. Tech experts suspect the bots are simply being cautious as they weigh running for president themselves.

• Cereal giant General Mills is facing a federal lawsuit filed by several of its Black employees who claim that one of the company’s plants in Georgia has “embraced a racially hostile work environment” controlled by “white supremacists.” Suppose it’s time to find out which side of the civil war this General Mills fella actually fought for.

Finally…

• President Joe Biden for the first time publicly apologized to Ukraine for a monthslong congressional holdup in American military assistance that let Russia make gains on the battlefield. Letters from African America insiders claim to have heard Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy describe the apology as, “rambling,confusing, and mildly erotic” which, for Biden, is how you know it came from the heart.
