Hello fellow citizens of African America and gaggle of curious onlookers,
Instead of highlighting stuff you might’ve missed in my monthly letters, I’ll be releasing a compilation of jokes, podcasts, and posts in a separate update at the end of each month. This one’s a little beefier than normal, but there’s nothin’ wrong with a chunky email, right?
Let’s start off with…
Each weekday, I email five jokes and subscribers vote on the ones that make them laugh the most! Here are your favorite jokes from March, April and May 2025! I was traveling for the bulk of April, so you’ll probably notice a massive gap. Feel free to fill in the blanks with your own jokes… silently… to yourself.

A company owned by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund just bought Pokémon Go, and probably all of your location data. Guess that explains why so many rare Pokémon have been hiding on the “premium” button at the local gas station.

Gal Gadot’s Walk of Fame ceremony was disrupted by a confrontation between pro-Palestine and pro-Israeli demonstrators. Gadot tried calming the crowd down with an a cappella rendition “Imagine,” and, surprisingly, both camps united in shushing her.

FRIDAY : 5-9-2025
The world’s 1.4 billion Catholics have a new pope, and for the first time, he is from America. Specifically, Chicago. Which would certainly explain his affinity for reading from “deep dish” bibles.
The new pope, who goes by Leo XIV, is the first to have an online footprint— and his conclave of peers were pleased to learn that his recent TikTok answer to “Who would win in a fight between 100 men and one gorilla?” was “The Holy Spirit.”
And beyond Chicago, Pope Leo has Creole roots in Louisiana — as evidenced by this exclusive look at his DNA:

Homeland security secretary Kristi Noem, known for starring in what feels like deleted scenes from Starship Troopers —

In the You Are The Genre podcast, I dissect the career paths of actors, screenwriters and more. Behold! The episodes released in March and April! I took a little mental health break since then, but the podcast will return in June!
I spoke with comedian/TV writer/filmmaker Niles Abston about defying the silos of the internet to forge community through comedy.
Had a good chat with comedian/director/photographer Rose Kelso about her early love of collecting things and how that ties into her many creative pursuits today.
Always fun talking to Nathan Rabin — this time about his early interest in politics and trivia, and how they influenced his career as a dissector of pop culture’s past, present, and future.
Ryan Perez (SNL, The Tonight Show) is one of my favorite people and we’ve somehow never met in person, so it was a blast peeling back the layers and learning about the impact of Scorsese films on his sensibility as a comedian, writer, and filmmaker.
I spoke to Philip Lewis about how his early passions led him to journalism.
And Felipe Torres Medina (The Late Show with Stephen Colbert) and I had a conversation about his experiences growing up in Columbia, the impact comedic imports from America, and the everlasting power of being a moody boy. His book, America, Let Me In: A Choose Your Immigration Story was published March 2025 and has earned some pretty cool reviews from Kirkus and Publisher’s Weekly. ORDER IT NOW!
POST(s): 1 Joke From The Vault
During my break I posted deep-dives into comedic projects I’ve been involved with. If you missed them, you can check out the behind-the-scenes antics that led to creation of things like:
